2015 Basic 'Catch Up:

2015 Sailing season was a 'catch up' one where Clare and Rod were able to return with us for a trip without interruptions.  They joined us in Morlaix having driven along the coast from Cherbourg.

The weather this year was extremely iffy with the fronts coming in from the west with monotonous regularity.... it was the speed with which they came through which was the disturbing thing.  We found it difficult to plan a leg if we needed to be somewhere on a particular tide or lock gate or in a protected part of the coast.  However, it did mean that we stayed in places for several days and got to meet up with "Spook" with Veronica and Chris.  We met passing through the Chenal on route for Brest and Camaret!!

We managed to get Clare and Rod down to Benodet before they left us having gone inland for a visit to Quimper the original 'Capital" town of Brittany with it's huge cathedral in the middle of the square.  It was a misty day when we got there, but we could still enjoy the lovely surroundings.

Found this lone Cormorant enjoying the first sight of the sunshine in many a long day!!!  Sailed past him on the route into the river, running up into Morlaix from Roscoff.
This ineresting building is at the top of the marina and at first glance looked like cladding material being used while restoration work was being carried out until we realised that it was actually the outside wall being used for the artwork!

We enjoyed some excellent food and wine in this establishment!!

The huge viaduct which dominates the town centre.
Clare and Rod enjoying a meal with us in L'Aberwrach.

Give Charles a few oysters, and he is anybody's!!!

Waiting in L'Aberwrach for the right tides and weather system before heading through the Raz.

 Quimper:
These pedestrian bridges crossed the Odet in several places along the way and all lined with lovely flowers.  Would have been wonderful if the sun had shone!!

Just entering the village square, the Cathedral is behind me.

These stunning murals had been there for centuries depicting stories from the Bible.  There was one inside each of the windows on the port side of the Cathedral (if that makes sense!)

One of the busy side streets with the Cathedral always in ones view.

It is so tall and huge I found it impossible to get it all in!!!

The intricate carvings around the huge doors at the entrance.

And, finally, my Sis sent me this birthday card, and it just about sums everything up for me!!!
